Starting the day with a cup of coffee has become a daily ritual for many people. When the mind and body needed a start button, coffee could get you through facing the hustle and bustle of the city. On the other side of the day, coffee can also be a heavenly treat after facing a long day—a way to calm the mind or to meetup with good friends. Whenever the time is, TUKU is always here to accompany you with a variety of coffee choices to suit your taste!
In response to the wide range of coffee preferences among neighbors, TUKU introduces Cold Drip Pagi and Cold Drip Sore as black coffee options in the menu. In an attempt to bring a different approach for this menu, Barista Tuku uses cold water for the brewing method. This method started off in Kyoto and inspired the Dutch traders to use the same method, as it was easier to do during sailing. Since then, this method has evolved and expanded to many countries across the globe! However, the cold drip method is different from cold brew. If cold brew needs at least 8 hours of steeping the coffee, cold drip doesn’t depend on a specific duration since you have to wait for cold water to slowly drip through the coffee. It’s more exciting to see the brewing process, really.
What makes cold drip special is its distinctive taste from espresso-based coffee. Imagine a cup of iced Kopi Hitam Tetangga (TUKU’s signature black coffee), its bold flavor combined with a hint of acidity would instantly freshen up your body from the first sip. The bolder profile comes from the espresso, extracted using hot water and high pressure. On the other hand, when coffee is brewed using cold water, it tastes lighter because it doesn't extract acidity, making it a perfect choice for anyone who’s still learning to enjoy black coffee. However, acidity can also come from the type of coffee beans being used. So, cold drip coffee can also taste acidic if the coffee beans have that flavor note.
Speaking of flavors, Cold Drip Pagi has a different character and flavor notes than Cold Drip Sore. If you need an energy boost in the morning, the strong flavor of Cold Drip Pagi would be perfect for starting your activities. With slightly sweet chocolate notes, Cold Drip Pagi will welcome your day with a smile. Meanwhile, Cold Drip Sore is best enjoyed when you need a mood booster at the end of day. Its lighter character with tropical fruits notes such as pineapple, apple, and berries can lighten up the mind after a long day of activities. Nevertheless, Barista Tuku serves both menus at all times, so Tetangga Tuku can pick either of both according to your preferences. If you like bold and nutty coffee, Cold Drip Pagi might be more suitable for you. But, if you like a refreshing and acidic coffee, please try Cold Drip Sore!
Hopefully, Cold Drip “Pagi” and “Sore” can become one of the black coffee options for neighbors who prefer iced coffee over hot coffee. With the carefully-selected brewing method, Barista Tuku can produce black coffee in a large batch, so Tetangga Tuku can grab it faster than other black coffee menus—still in the best quality in each cup! Whether it's the morning or evening, you can lighten up the day with a hint of chocolate or fruit notes in a cup of iced coffee. Paired with your favorite TUKUDAPAN (TUKU snacks), the taste of Cold Drip Pagi and Cold Drip Sore are simply unforgettable.
